Turn and Bank Indicator, Electric, Luftwaffe FI 22412 Wendezeiger
This is a WWII-era Turn and Bank Indicator (Wendezeiger) FI 22412 used in various aircraft of the German Luftwaffe. The gyro in this model is electrically-powered, as opposed to those designs which were pneumatically-powered (i.e., via suction), thus reducing the potential risk to reliability arising from a vacuum system (i.e., leaks).
According to two websites with information regarding Luftwaffe instruments ( Deutsche Luftwaffe and Aircraft-Cockpits.com), the Fl 22412 appeared in the transport Junkers Ju-52 Tante Ju and the jet fighter Heinkel He162 Volksjäger.
The indicator is in very good condition given its age. The glass is intact, as is the banking indicator (fluid is intact). Measures 3.25 inches diameter and ~6 inches deep.
