Pitot Tube Type D-1 AN5816-2 (1)

This is a WWII-era Pitot Tube, Type D-1 (also AN5816-2), as used by aircraft of the US Army Air Force and US Navy, such as bombers B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, B-26 Marauder, and A-26 Invader, fighters P-39 Airacobra, P-40 Warhawk, and P-47 Thunderbolt, dive bomber SBD Dauntless, and torpedo bomber TBM Avenger.

The pitot tube is part of the pitot-static system that provides information to the pilot via pressure-sensitive instruments such as the airspeed indicator, rate of climb (vertical velocity) indicator, and altimeter.

On most bombers, this pitot tube would be mounted on a stanchion on a side of the fuselage, and on fighters, mounted on the wing. This example is made by Manning Bowman & Co., part number 126-108.

This pitot tube is clearly experienced, but a very nice artifact nonetheless.  Measures ~13 inches long.
