Gyro Magnetic Compass & Course Indicator Slaved Type V-4 Sperry 21204 USAF OCAMA

$59.50

This is a Slaved Gyro Magnetic Compass and Course Indicator Type V-4 made by Sperry spec # 21204. It has a service label from the US Air Force Tinker Air Base's OCAMA (Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area). OCAMA managed repairs and furnished spare parts for the B-52, B-47, C/KC-135, and certain other aircraft, but a specific link between this instrument and these aircraft has not been established.  It has a serial # prefix of AF 50, likely indicating a manufacturing year of 1950. Measures 5.25in wide and ~11in deep.

A wooden brace is temporarily installed across the face, depressing the lower right knob, to keep the unit in a caged position for transport. The right knob adjusts the pointer, and the left knob sets the course heading.  Removing a small cover at the rear reveals three vacuum tubes (one of the cover's metal tabs is broken). It is in very nice condition given its age.  The dial markings are clear and the glass and case are intact.
