Fuel Quantity Indicator, TBM Avenger, 4 Tank, Liquidometer EA-140-4
Here is an exceptional artifact from the iconic WWII-era US Navy Torpedo Bomber, the TBM Avenger: a 4-tank Fuel Quantity Indicator. Made by Liquidometer, part number EA-140-4, FSSC number 88-I-2121, the unit indicated fuel quantity in four tanks: left, right, and center wing tanks, and the bomb bay droppable tank. The part numbers have been confirmed in the TBM Avenger Erection and Maintenance Manual dated August 1945. See photo from the TBM Avenger Pilot Manual dated Nov 1945.
This example is in nice condition given its age, see photos. It has an inspection label from Naval Air Station San Diego (NAS SD) dated March 1953. Measures 3.25 inches diameter and ~3.5 inches deep.
