General Electric
Fuel Quantity Indicator, Front-Reserve Tanks, P-38 Lightning, GE 8DJ12LAN
Here is a fine specimen of a Fuel Quantity Indicator for the Reserve (Front) fuel tanks as used in versions of the infamous US Army Air Force twin-tailed fighter P-38 Lightning, made by General Electric, Model 8DJ12LAN
The P-38 had two fuel quantity indicators.. this was for the front reserve tanks, each holding 0-60 gals. The indicator has two pointers (the second one is barely visible in the photo as it rests behind the other) one for each tank. See the photo from the 1945 P-38 Flight Manual which shows the location of the fuel quantity indicator on the instrument panel. We know of no other aircraft that used this fuel indicator.
It is experienced but is in fine condition for its age. Measures 2.25 inches diameter by ~3 inches deep.
