This is a WWII-era Directional Gyro Indicator, as used across many different aircraft of the Japanese Army.
It is in exceptional condition given its age. The gyro is uncaged when the knob is pulled out, allowing the compass card to float freely left or right to indicate the course of the aircraft. Measures ~4 inches square and ~ 4 inches deep.
