This is a superb specimen of a Control Wheel (aka Yoke) from the Douglas DC-6 commercial airliner. The Douglas DC-6 is a piston-powered airliner and transport aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1946 to 1958.
At the center is an original deep red hub with the beige Douglas logo of the era and three blue contrail stripes, which snaps on and off of yoke center. At the top of each end of the wheel are spring-loaded button switches, one marked for Autopilot Release and the other for Hydraulic Panel Lights. The black paint shows wear from use.
It is in very good condition given its age.
