Aircraft Recognition Silhouette Cards, US Naval Aviation Training Division 1942

$50.00

This is a WWII-era instructional aid for US Navy service men used to train on the recognition of aircraft of the Allies and Axis Air Forces in the European Theater. Judging from the accompanying instructions, this kit was reproduced by the US Navy from the original concept from the British Royal Air Force. Publication dated is April 1942.

Included in the kit are:

  • Four playing card decks, (Red, Blue, Green, Orange) each containing 53 silhouette cards.  Each deck contains four separate silhouette views of 13 different aircraft, plus a Joker.
  • Instruction Sheet
  • Manually typed score sheets (10)
  • Keys to each of 3 card decks. The key for the Green deck is missing from this kit.
The instructions includes how to use the cards in 5 different card games to facilitate recognition training.  The cards themselves appear almost new, and may have only been used very infrequently.
