Tuning Unit, MC-125 for Receiving and Transmitting Command Set SCR-AJ(and AL)-183

The MC-125 Tuning Unit is a component of the WWII-era airborne communication system Receiving and Transmitting Command Set SCR-AJ(and AL)-183, as used in the C-47 Dakota Transport with a similar version used in the TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber. This remote tuner was typically positioned within arms length distance of the pilot in order to mechanically tune the receiving radio to the desired frequency. By turning the crank, the faceplate rotates to indicate the selected frequency within the small metal frame (to which a small lamp could be affixed for illumination), and the mechanical cable (not included) thus turns the tuner on the command set receiver.

The crank does rotate the frequency faceplate and the cable gear is turning. However, testing would be required to confirm accurate operation.
