This is an original document of the US Strategic Bombing Survey: The Effects of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, from the Chairman's Office 03 June 1946.

The US Strategic Bombing Survey was initiated in November 1944 to conduct an assessment of the impact of US aerial bombing upon Axis nations.  In August 1945, President Truman requested that the survey extend to the impact of bombing on Japan. This 47 page document was the result of the specific survey assessing the atomic bomb attacks.

The survey reviews the impact of the attacks, and specifically discusses the effects of the blast upon structures and the population.  It also contains recommendations about self-defense against such attacks on the US.

Attached to the end of the publication are large fold-out maps of Hiroshima and Nagasaki indicating the areas of impact.

There is a handwritten note by unknown author "Al" on the inside cover:

Ray
In my opinion, this atomic bomb is the most devilish device of destruction and devastation ever conceived in the mind of man.
