P-80A Shooting Star Jet Fighter Original Lockheed Development Documents 1944

$95.00

This is a set of original engineering documents from the development of the US Air Force Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star, the first jet-propelled fighter of the USAF to see combat. This set of documents came to AeroAntique from the estate of Lockheed aeronautical engineer R.A. Mundhenk who worked on secret skunkworks projects with C.L."Kelly" Johnson.

Mundhenk was a Weight Engineer in the Special Projects Group during 1944 while working on the XP-80A and YP-80 projects. His documents include weight and balance calculations to assess the changing center of gravity and graphs and tables.  Includes approximately 40 pages.

Also included are 3 original interdepartmental communications sheets from 1944 regarding the P-80 project, one each from Mundhenk to C.L. Kelly Johnson and two other recipients.

A very cool collection of rare development documents on a vital technical project....a real piece of aviation history.
