Wright R-1820 Cyclone Engine Intake Valve Display

$125.00

This is an Intake Valve for the Wright R-1820 Cyclone aircraft engine, set in a wooden display with plaque.  The Wright R-1820 Cyclone was an American radial engine developed by Curtiss-Wright, and widely used on aircraft in the 1930s through 1950s.  Most notably, it was the engine used in the WWII-era US Army Air Force B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber and C-47 Skytrain, and the US Navy's SBD Dauntless and SB2C Helldiver Dive Bombers. The angled display shows the 'tulip', or concave surface of the intake valve (n.b., the exhaust valve surface was convex, such as a mushroom cap).

The valve measures ~5 inches long and ~3 inches diameter. The display measures 4 7/8 inches by 8 7/8 inches and ~4 3/8 inches tall.
