Rate of Climb / Vertical Speed Indicator, USSR 150 meters/second
Here is a fine example of a Cold War-era Vertical Speed Indicator from an aircraft of the air force of the USSR. It displays a maximum rate of climb or descent of 150 meters/second. We have not identified the type of aircraft which specifically used this indicator.
The vertical speed adjustment is performed by turning the bottom center screw until it can turn freely while still retained in the case. Then it is gently pulled to engage the mechanism, at which point it can adjust the pointer clockwise or counterclockwise. Once the adjustment is made, the screw is then pushed in to disengage it from the mechanism and screwed to tighten and secure it in place.
Measures 3.25 inches diameter and ~ 4 inches deep. It is in exceptional condition given its age. The case and glass are intact and the lettering is bright and distinct.
