Course Indicator / Directional Gyro, USSR, MiG-15 Jet Fighter
This is an exceptional example of a remote-indicating Course / Directional Gyro Indicator as used in the 1950's Korean War-era MiG-15 jet fighter and other aircraft of the USSR's Soviet Air Force. It is new old stock. See the indicator as it appears in the MiG-15 Flight Manual dated 1955, see photos.
The indicator provides directional and course information to the pilot as transmitted from the gyros mounted elsewhere within the aircraft. The knob at 6 o'clock turns the perimeter compass scale to select the desired course, while the pointer rotates per the signals received from the gyro. The page from the flight manual shows a diagram of the system (2 are depicted as this manual is for the two-seat MiG-15).
It is packaged in its original carton, including its electrical connector and mounting screws. Measures ~3.25 inches diameter and ~3 inches deep.
