Bomb Station Distributor Selector SD-1 for TBM Avenger

This is an authentic WWII-era Bomb Station Distributor Selector SD-1 as used in the US Navy's TBM Avenger multi-purpose carrier-based bomber. The Distributor Selector was located in the TBM's bombardier's compartment behind the flight deck. See photo and page from the TBM manual showing its location.

According to the TBM Avenger Flight Manual date Nov 1944, the TBM could carry bombs in the following configurations: 12-100 lb bombs, 4-500 lb bombs, 1 or 2-1000 lb bombs, 1-1600 lb bomb, 1-2000 lb bomb, or 1 torpedo.  The station distributor is set to control the sequence in which bombs are released.  After the first bomb selected on the distributor dial is released, it resets the circuit for releasing the next bomb in line. The distributor is to set at the lowest station number at which a bomb is carried:  100 lb bomb set at No 1, 500 lb bomb set at No 9, 1000 lb bomb set at No 8, 1600 lb bomb set at No 8 (per the TBM Flight Manual).  

The Distributor Selector is in terrific condition given its age. The switch rotates to all settings smoothly. Measures ~4 inches x 4 inches x ~5 inches wide.
