Airspeed Indicator, 430 Knots, WWII US Navy F4U Corsair

$95.00

This is an early WWII-era Airspeed Indicator Kollsman 598KN-015, FSSC 88-I-350, as used in early versions of the US Navy fighter F4U Corsair and in the F6F Hellcat.  See the image of the F4U-1 instrument panel from its flight manual dated 1944 showing its location.

Airspeed was displayed along the outer scale as the pointer rotated from 0 to 200 knots, then from 200 to 430 knots on the inner scale.

BU AERO US NAVY is embossed on the center face, and the USN anchor symbol is stamped on the rear case.

It is in reasonable condition given its age. The glass, which appears to be sealed twin pane for strength, shows signs of minor deterioration of the seal along its outer edge. We have elected not to replace the glass in order to preserve its originality.  Measures 3.25 inches diameter and ~3 inches deep.
