Wheel and Flap Position Indicator, Type A-3
This is a WWII-era Wheel and Flap Position Indicator, Type A-3, as used in aircraft of the US Army Air Force and US Navy with tail wheel landing gear. According to the Maintenance and Interchangeability Chart dated Feb 1945, the A-3 indicator was used in early versions of fighter P-47 Thunderbolt (see image of the P-47 instrument panel from its flight manual dated 1943) and transport C-46 Commando. It was also used in the fighter P-40F Warhawk according to its service manual.

This indicator is in good condition for its age. The glass and case are intact, and the markings on the face are precise and unblemished. Measures 3.25 inches diameter and ~3 inches deep.
