Carrying Case for Master Navigational GCT Watch AN-5838 New Old Stock

$350.00

This is an authentic Cold-War-era Carrying Case made specifically to protect the Master Navigational GCT Watch used by navigators of aircraft such as bombers and transports of the US Air Force. (Watch is not included).  It is new and in its original box. dated July 1952.

The primary purpose of the Carrying Case was to protect the Master Navigational GCT (Greenwich Civil Time) Watch, whose accuracy was critical during aircraft navigation.  The case opens by gently lifting the retaining band from the small retaining peg, and turning the top counter-clockwise. The watch is installed and suspended on shock-springs within the carrying case, and can be viewed through a glass window by rotating the metal door to reveal the watch. The metal case was also intended to shield the watch from possible magnetization set up by stray electrical currents within the airplane.

The case is in exceptional condition given its age. Measures 4 inches diameter and 2 inches deep. Also included is a small box with an adjustment screwdriver. If you own a GCT stopwatch, this is an essential companion piece.
