B-47 Stratojet Bomber Range Computer (Aluminum) Rev. 1, Mar 1952
This is an authentic Range Computer designed specifically for use in the USAF Boeing B-47 Stratojet Strategic Bomber in 1952. This rather-complicated 7-inch computer is essentially a 3-disk slide rule used to determine the range of the aircraft in nautical miles under various conditions of air speed, outside air temperature, altitude, aircraft weight, and number of engines in use.
This version has an aluminum center disk with two rotating plastic-covered paperboard cards on either side and a rotating alignment arm on one side. There is some slight discoloration likely a result of aged adhesive that holds the plastic covers to the paperboard cards, but does not negatively affect its operation or legibility.
This is a unique find indeed!
