Aircraft Recognition Manual, USAF 1955 AF Manual 355-10

$50.00

This 176-page Aircraft Recognition Manual for the Observer was provided to personnel of the Ground Observer Corps, an organization under joint operation of the US Air Force and civil authorities.  Observers worked within the structure of the Ground Observer Corps to ensure proper training and communication. Observers, who were US Citizens and volunteers, would train to become "Qualified Observers".  Observers were responsible for spotting aircraft of US adversaries and initiating an Aircraft Flash Report through proscribed communication channels. The first 40 pages describe the Ground Observer Corps and its responsibilities.

The remaining ~130 pages contain illustrations of aircraft of the US Air Force, US Navy, RCAF, RAF, and the USSR Air Force, as well as commercial aircraft.  Bombers, fighters, seaplanes, transports, trainers, and helicopters are covered.

The manual is in "experienced" yet good condition given its age. The corners of the first 3 pages have slight wear. Measures 9.75 inches wide, 6.5 inches tall, and 3/8 inches thick.
